These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Privy Journal (the "App"), provided by Dev Pixels Studio LLC ("we," "us," "our"), a company registered in Wyoming, USA. By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.

1. What Privy Journal is

Privy Journal is a journaling app in which you can write entries yourself or talk with an on-device AI companion that helps turn the conversation into a journal entry. The defining feature of the App is that all AI processing happens locally on your device — never on our servers or a third party's.

The AI models we use

In the interest of being transparent about what actually powers the App, here are the specific on-device language models available under the "Privy Brain" tiers in Settings:

These are third-party open-weight models we distribute for on-device use; we do not train or fine-tune them, and they run through an inference engine embedded in the App (no internet connection required once downloaded). Every tier is available to every user regardless of subscription status.

2. AI-generated content — please read this

Journal entries and replies written with the help of the AI companion are generated by a small, local language model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, repetitive, or occasionally nonsensical. The App is:

• Not a substitute for professional mental health care, medical advice, legal advice, or financial advice. If you are in crisis or need professional support, please contact a licensed professional or a crisis line in your area.
• Not a fact-checking or factual-recall tool — the AI has no access to the internet and no knowledge beyond what you tell it in conversation.
• A personal writing aid, not a monitored or moderated service — no human reviews your conversations, because we have no access to them.

You are responsible for reviewing anything the AI helps write before treating it as your own record.

3. Accounts

• You must create an account (email/password or Google Sign-In) to use the App. This exists to let you access your data securely and, if you choose, sync across devices — it never gates access to your own past entries once you're signed in.
• You must be at least 13 years old to use Privy Journal.
• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You may sign out or delete your account at any time (see our Privacy Policy for how).

4. Your content

You own everything you write. We claim no rights to your journal entries or conversations — we don't have access to them in the first place, since they're stored locally on your device. You can export your entries at any time, in Markdown or JSON format, with no restrictions, and you can permanently delete them from within the App whenever you choose.

5. Subscriptions & billing

Reading, writing, and exporting journal entries is always free, forever — this is never gated by subscription status. The one feature that requires a paid plan is unlimited Talk (AI conversation).

• All subscriptions are billed and managed through Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details.
• Monthly and Yearly plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from Google Play's Subscriptions settings; you'll keep access through the end of the paid period.
• If you start the Yearly plan's 7-day free trial and don't cancel before it ends, you'll be charged $49.99 for the year.
• Prices are subject to change; we'll give notice before any change affects an active subscription.

6. Acceptable use

Please don't use Privy Journal to:

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or redistribute the bundled AI models outside the App;
• Interfere with or attempt to disrupt the App's operation, or attempt unauthorized access to our systems;
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose.

7. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. If your account is terminated, your locally stored journal data is unaffected — it remains on your device regardless of account status, consistent with our commitment that your entries are yours, forever.

8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dev Pixels Studio LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including reliance on AI-generated content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the date at the top of this page, and for material changes, notify you in the App.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
